Japan: Lyle Hewitson finished off his two-month visit to Japan in style by riding five winners over the weekend in Tokyo.
The dual South African champion jockey added a double on Sunday to a treble on Saturday in the capital to end his two-month licence stint on 19 wins.
Hewitson said: “I had an awesome time in Japan, a great experience for me and the success was just the cherry on the top.”
Hewitson, 22, captured the feature race on Saturday when he steered  Authority to victory in the G2 Aoba Sho, his second Group win in Japan. He also scored on P M Pinko and Daishin Indi.
On Sunday he won race seven on Asam Blue before rounding off the trip by 
His success in Japan should help him secure a three-month license in future.
Hewitson said he will now return to South Africa, where he became the first jockey in nearly 60 years to win the championship while still an apprentice and topped the rankings again in 2018-19 with 219 wins.
